DANIEL McCOWEN TYHURST

Daniel McCowen Tyhurst is an artist hailing from King’s Lynn, Norfolk. With a BTEC national diploma in Fine Art and two years of private tutoring in drawing, painting, and life drawing, Daniel has dedicated himself to the arts for the past six years. His journey into art was heavily influenced by his mother and a private tutor who saw his natural talent and encouraged him to pursue a creative path. Daniel’s art is characterized by its intuitive and expressive nature, reflecting his perceptions of reality and the emotional landscapes within. He primarily uses oil paints, found materials, and photography to explore themes of humanity, emotions, and folklore. His creative process involves a cycle of making, playing, researching, and reflecting, drawing inspiration from the world around him and various influential artists. Over time, Daniel’s artistic style has become more refined, though it continues to evolve with each new project. He has exhibited his work at notable venues such as Bluey Bluey in Norwich, Bishops Garden in Norwich, and Norwich University of the Arts. His short-term goals include excelling in his university studies, while his long-term aspirations involve sustaining his artistic practice and traveling with his partner to gain new perspectives on life. Through his art, Daniel aims to inspire others to create and to highlight issues of sustainability and the human impact on nature. His influences include Frank Auerbach, Jake Chapman, and Francis Bacon, among others. While he does not actively seek collaborations, he finds the idea of observing historical masters like Goya or Giacometti at work intriguing. Daniel’s passion for creating gives him a sense of purpose and drives his daily life, embodying a philosophy of "just do it" that fuels his artistic endeavours.
